The Vidalia Indians scored on their first four possessions of the first half in route to a 42-7 win over the Jeff Davis Yellow Jackets Friday night in Hazlehurst. The Indians racked up 384 yards of total offense including 302 on the ground as they moved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Region 2AA play.

The Indians took no time setting the tone for the game, taking the first possession and driving it 70 yards in seven plays to make it 7-0 on a Nate McBride 8 yard run with 9:18 to go in the first quarter.

The Vidalia defense would play solid defense all night long limiting the Jackets to just one first down in the first half and just three on the night, while allowing only 78 total yards including just 19 yards rushing.

The Jackets first possession was evident of the Indians solid defense, as they held the Jackets to a 3 and out forcing the first punt of the night which was kicked out the end zone giving the Indians the ball on their own 20 yard line.

The Indians would then go on a 14 play 80 yard drive chewing up 6:13 off the clock cumulating in Deon Green’s 1st rushing touchdown of the year, a 1 yard plunge to make it 14-0 following Josh Sowell’s PAT with 1:30 to go in the first quarter.

The Indians would score twice more in the half to take a 28-0 lead into the intermission. The first came with 5:07 to go in the half on a Lakia Henry 1 yard run which capped a 60 yard 11 play drive. The next was on a 35 yard pass from Hall Graham to Deon Green who split the defenders and cruised into the end zone for his second TD of the night.

The Indians defense would get a turnover on the Jackets first possession of the 2nd half when on third down and one at their own 39 the Jackets couldn’t handle a bad snap and the ball was recovered by Lakia Henry.

That set up the Indians 5th touchdown of the night, Jaxson McFadden’s first touchdown of the year, a one yard run to make it 35-0 with 7:22 to go in the 3rd quarter.

The Indians second team defense would take over form there forcing a 3 and out, but a muffed fair catch on the punt turned the ball back over to Jeff Davis who would take to the end zone 7 plays later on an Alex Sanders 1 yard run to make it 35-7 with 7:55 to go in the game.

The Indians second team offense would get the final score of the night with 1:47 to go in the game on a Santuan Wells 63 yard scamper to make the final score Vidalia 42 Jeff Davis 7.

On the night Lakia Henry rushed for 77 yards on 11 carries and 1 TD, while Santuan Wells added another 74 yards on 3 carries and a TD. Nate McBride added another 55 yards on 6 carries and a score, while Jaxson MacFadden carried the ball 5 times for 33 yards and a TD in his first game of the year. Hall Graham threw for 82 yars including a 35 yard TD to Deon Green and a 28 yard pass to Jaxson McFadden.

The Indians will now face Swainsboro next Friday night at home in Senior night 2016, with kick set for 7:30 at Buck Cravey Field.
