For the second time in two years, the Vidalia Lady Indians came up one game short of winning the state AA softball title.
Saturday night in Columbus the deciding game was tied 1-1 in the top of the 7th with the Lady Bulldogs of Harlem High School, however, a double to left field pushed two runs across the plate. The Lady Indians were unable to score in their last turn at the plate and lost the game 3-1.
A loss to Dodge County Friday put the Lady Indians in the tournament loser's bracket where they won every game until the finale with Harlem.
The Vidalia Lady Indians won two games in the AA State Softball Championship loser's bracket Friday in Columbus.
In the one p.m. game Friday, Vidalia defeated Heard County 8-0 and followed at 5 p.m. with a 6-2 win over Jeff Davis County.
On Saturday, Vidalia defeated Rockmart 8-5, Dodge County 2-1, and Harlem 3-0. Harlem was previously undefeated in the winner's bracket and got another and successful shot at the Lady Indians in the title contest.
