January 20—A member of the VHS Lady Indians Golf team Madison Strickland signed a letter of intent Thursday for a scholarship to play golf at Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia.
“I absolutely fell in love with the school when I went there and visited. Everything fell into place and I knew that God wanted me to go there. I am thankful for this opportunity and it means the world to me. I struggled all through high school dealing with a health issue and trying to get back to a healthy weight and being able to play golf again. God has restored me back to where I can play golf and at the collegiate level” Strickland said.
“We are proud of her as parents and how she has worked hard and become a better golfer. This is a great opportunity for Madison to play golf but also she is going to a university where she can expand her faith.” Wayne Strickland said.
“VHS Lady Indians Golf Coach Chad Barker said, “Madison is a hard worker and a good motivator. She helps keep people calm on our team. She is very consistent on the golf course and shoots about the same score every time. I am very proud of her and how she was able to overcome and receive this scholarship.”
“Madison exemplifies everything we are looking for in a student athlete. We are a Christian college and we look for girls that love the lord. She is a good player and will have a chance to improve once she gets here. “ Truett McConnell Golf Coach Steve Patton said.
