December 8—The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame Committee met in Dalton, Ga. to select the 2018 inductees and former Vidalia High School Lady Indians Basketball Head Coach Chunk Reid is one of the four coaches in the state that will be inducted into the GACA Hall of Fame on June 2nd, 2018. VHS Athletic Director Coach Reid retired from coaching last season with a career record of 881and 382. He holds the record for the most wins in Girls Basketball in the state. His teams won 11 Region Championships and played in two Final Fours and finished as State Runners-Up in 2010. In 47 years he only had 8 losing seasons and had 25 seasons of more than 20 wins. The last nine years of coaching his teams had a record of 208 and 56.
“Anytime you have achievements you have a lot of people behind you to go along with those achievements. I feel honored, but you have to give thanks to Vidalia High School and the administration, coaches, staff and also to the community. When you are being selected by your peers it makes it a great honor.” Coach Reid said.
“This is a great event for Coach Reid and his family, our school and community. It is a great tribute to his legacy and to the man he has been to all the students in the school for a long time.” VHS Principal John Sharpe stated.
