April 26-- The Vidalia Track and Field team wins Region 2-AA in Jeff Davis in a dominating fashion.  Final team results were as follows: Vidalia-208, Jeff Davis-159, Woodville Tompkins-76, Swainsboro-62, Metter-53, Toombs County-21, Bryan County-12 and Bacon County-10.
Competition began with the field events on Wednesday along with the finals of the 1600 and all prelim running events.  Our jumpers did a fantastic job racking up points, being lead by Jonathan Moody who won the triple jump with an 18 inch personal best with a jump of 43-7 and William Page finishing 2nd with another excellent performance. Moody also had a season best in the long jump, placing 2nd. These two young men stepped up huge, performing better than they have all season.  Thrower Jaylen Clements came close to his personal best in the discus placing 2nd.  Freshman Hunter Manning is paving the way for future pole vaulters at VHS.  “Hunter dominated the pole vault and won this event.  Hunter faces many obstacles in this event and countless hours traveling of campus to practice this event. He is a very hard worker and is dedicated to perfecting this event.  He has big things in store for his future in this event” Coach Godbee stated.

Cole Register was on a mission winning both the 1600 and 3200.  Cole had a personal best performance and came up with a big win on Wednesday.  Cole continued his mission on Thursday winning the 3200 as well. Freshman Luke Palmer finished in 2nd place. “Luke is a very special, talented distance runner.  I can't wait to see what the future holds for this fine young man.” Coach Godbee said.

The 4x100 relay put in a personal best performance winning the event with Jesi McRae, William Page, Markell Parrish, Raymond Collins and Cailyn Jordan. The 4x400 relay placed 1st as well with a win and personal best with the team of Jamarcus Adams, Jesi McRae, Markell Parrish and Joe Summerset.

“As a coach, I could not ask for a better group of fine young men.  These guys know how to fight and work for what they want.  It is a blessing and honor to have such a fine team and group of coaches.  Coach Hart, Coach McLeod and Coach Martin have put in countless hours leading these young men and setting a great example for them” Coach Godbee said.
