The Vidalia Indians scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to come back from a 21-3 deficit to defeat E.C.I. 24-21 Friday night in Twin City. With the win the Indians evened their record at 1-1 and will next travel to Tattnall County to take on the Battle Creek Warriors in a non-region match-up.

The Indians began the night in control on the offensive side of the ball driving from their own 37 to the Bulldog 11 before having to settle for a Brennan Dooley 28 yard field goal to make it 3-0 Vidalia with 4:20 to go in the opening quarter.

The Indian defense would get their 1st turnover of the night on the Bulldog first possession when Jackie Robinson would intercept a Chase Whitehead pass at the Indian 44 yard line. The Indians would then go on a 9 play drive to the E.C.I. 18 before a penalty stalled the dive with 8:05 to go in the half. Dooley’s 41 yard effort would just miss to the left and the Bulldogs would take over at their own 20 yard line.

From there the Dogs would go 80 yards in just seven plays getting big runs from Jarrell Jordan who would cap the drive with a 30 yard run with 4:23 to go in the half to make it 6-3 E.C.I. after a missed PAT.

The Indians could muster no offense on their next possession having to punt away with 1:54 to go in the half. The Bulldogs would waste no time scoring, moving 56 yards in just four plays on a Daquan Jones 3 yard run with 56 seconds to go in the half to make it 14-3 following a successful 2 point conversion.

The second half started much the same way as the first ended with E.C.I. taking the ball to start the half and driving the ball 62 yards in 7 plays with Jarrell Jordan scoring his 2nd touchdown of the night to make it 21-0 following a another successful 2 point conversion with 7:21 to go in the 3rd quarter.

That is all E.C.I. had for the Indians as on the ensuing kickoff, Jaden Stanley took the ball at his own 7 yard line with blocking up the middle and sprinted 93 yards for the score to make it 21-9 with 7:05 to go in the 3rd following an unsuccessful two point conversion.

The Indian defense would then take control holding the Dogs to a three and out forcing a punt which was hit short out of bounds at the Indian 40 yard line. The Indians would again move the ball on offense with Bryce Davis and Jayden Stanley picking up large gains to move the ball to the 2 yard line, where Davis would finish the drive with a two yard plunge. The PAT by Dooley was goo d and with 23 seconds to go in the third quarter the Indians only trailed 21-16.

E.C.I. again would not be able to move the ball on the Indian defense turning it over on downs and giving the ball back to the Indians at their 35 yard line. However the Indians would not be able to move the ball any further than the 40 yard line and Dawson Rick would kick the Dogs into a hole at their own 13 yard line, with 7:53 to go in the game.

The Vidalia defense again would hold E.C.I. to a three and out and following a punt, the Indians would take over on the Dog 43. Two plays later Jayden Stanley took it 35 yards for the score and following a two point conversion from Davis to Antrevion Williams the Indians would take the lead for good 24-21 with 4:16 to go in the game.

E.C.I. would nearly break the ensuing kick return taking the ball to the 44 yard line. But on the 2nd play from scrimmage Dawson Ricks would pick off a Whitehead pass at their own 46 yard line which allowed the Indians to run the clock out and securing the win 24-21.

On the night the Indians rushed for 226 yards with Bryce Davis rushing for 101 yards on 14 carries and a TD and Jayden Stanley carrying the ball 16 times for 89 yards and a score. Davis was also 7 for 11 through the air for 86 yards with Jackie Robinson accounting for 85 yards in receiving yards.
