The Literary Team at VHS is a group of students who compete in academically oriented events at both the region and state levels. The team is formed each October and prepares throughout the year with coaching and practice. Events include One-Act Play, Debate, Spelling, Essay, Vocal Soloists, Oral Interpretation, Quartet, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Trio.

Open to students who want to explore literary competitions, public speaking, and performance arts. Eligibility typically requires interest and commitment to weekly practices and competition schedules.
To join:
Express interest to the team advisors or faculty coaches
Attend tryouts or evaluations (if applicable)
Participate in scheduled practices, coaching sessions, and competitions

VHS Literary team members compete in a variety of performance and written events, working toward excellence in region and state level competitions.
Drama & Interpretation
One-Act Play and Oral Interpretation performances before live judges.

Developing critical arguments in Debate and Extemporaneous Speaking.

Soloists, Trios, and Quartets competing in technical vocal categories.
Written & Literacy
Showcasing precision in Spelling and creative depth in Essay writing.
